MOTHER MARIE DE GONZAGUE
Marie de Gonzague is of the noble class, and the superior of the Carmelite monastery when Thérèse enters. She is a strict disciplinarian, known for her temperamental nature, but she overcomes the objections of several nuns who feel there are already too many Martins in the community, and encourages Thérèse to enter at an unheard of young age. While others see only a bumbling 15-year-old nun, Mother Marie de Gonzague recognizes something special in Thérèse, and helps her discover her "little way."

Played by JUDITH KAPLAN
"I am so honored to have been a part of THERESE. The role of Mother Prioress allowed me to express my deepest feelings." Judith Kaplan is also a writer and is currently touring with her one-woman piece, Leah, which is the voice of one of the Biblical matriarchs.
